1. Start Menu

Microsoft has reintroduced the start menu in the windows 10 OS as before to windows 8. The new start menu has a better interface to find and launch important applications. 

Microsoft has expanded the Start Menu in the Windows 10 OS to view recently added and most used applications.

It is possible to resize the Start menu as per your preference.  You can pin tiles to the right of the Start menu. The menu can contain a few columns, depending on the screen resolution. These columns can be divided into groups that can have their own titles.

All groups are divided into 6 or 8 other columns, depending on the user’s settings, and 6 or 8 small size tiles can be arranged.

2. Cortana

Cortana is a virtual assistant developed by Microsoft. Talk to this virtual assistant using a computer microphone similar to Google Now, Siri, and Alexa.

Cortana can talk about the weather, calendar events, and other types of notifications, along with online information.

By default, Cortana appears as a search bar on the taskbar, but it can be changed to a button, like in tablet mode, and also you can activate it by voice using the “Hey Cortana” command to navigate the Start menu.

3. Multiple desktops and Task view

Task view is a task switch and virtual desktop system that can be accessed via a taskbar button, keyboard shortcut Windows+Tab, or by swiping from the left side of the touchscreen. 

Enabling the task view displays a magnified view of all currently open windows on a specific monitor.

Click on the window to switch to the window. You can also display the task view when a window fits half of the screen or when three windows fit a quarter of the screen. 

The task view also allows you to create virtual workspaces. You can drag and drop windows into this workspace.

4. Action Center

macOS is a proprietary graphical operating system developed by Apple Inc. macOS is found on almost every Apple laptop and desktop and apart from the Apple devices, the macOS is not found on any other devices like Windows OS and other operating systems but still, this is the second most used operating system in the world after Windows OS. 

Compared to Windows OS, Mac OS is available in fewer models and configurations, so it is easier to buy from there. Windows OS, on the other hand, is available in a variety of models and configurations, which is a bit daunting.

Previously, MacOS was considered a completely secure operating system, and there was little potential for security flaws compared to the Windows operating system.

4. New Notification Center

Safari on macOS 11 Big Sur also includes various changes and improvements. According to Apple, the new Safari is significantly faster and more efficient, with frequently listed websites loading 50% faster than Chrome on average.

In addition, according to Apple, Safari streams videos for up to an hour and a half more than Chrome or Firefox.

Chrome OS

ChromeOS is a lightweight operating system based on Gentoo Linux which is designed and developed by Google. Chrome OS is lighter than Windows and Mac OS. This is because the OS is centred around Chrome apps and web-based processes. 

It derives from the free software Chromium OS and uses the Google Chrome web browser as its main user interface. Similar to the Chromium OS, Chrome OS is proprietary software. 

Google Chrome OS is cloud-based, so it runs primarily in web applications. Both web applications and user data reside in the cloud. In short, Chrome OS provides fast, seamless access to information and cloud-based tools. 

Unlike Windows 10 and macOS, you cannot install third-party software on your Chromebook. All apps you receive are available on the Google Play Store.

1. Phone Hub

Phone Hub allows users to control connected phones from their Chromebooks.

2. Wi-Fi Sync

If your smartphone or other Chrome OS device using the same Google account is connected to a Wi-Fi network, you don’t need to re-enter your network password on your Chromebook.

Wi-Fi Sync automatically connects your device to a trusted network. To access this feature, go to Settings> Connected Devices. Click the arrow next to the phone to turn on Wi-Fi Sync.0. 

3. Screen Capture and Annotation mode

Users can record what’s on the screen. You can access this feature from a tile in the Quick Settings menu. Quick access to recorded video or screenshot items from the storage space on your Chrome OS shelf. 

4. Built-in virus protection

Chromebooks have built-in malware and virus protection and have multiple layers of security. 

Automatic update system: Your virus protection is automatically up-to-date, so you’re always running the most secure and up-to-date version. Chrome automatically manages updates in the background. 

5. Google Assistant

Like Cortana and macOS Siri, the Chrome operating system has the Google Assistant built-in. This allows for multitasking, control of smart devices, and faster processing than ever before.

6. Improved Clipboard

Chrome OS has an improved clipboard that displays the last five copies, including images. Copied items, recent downloads, screenshots, and pinned files appear in a space called a tote, a type of retention space.

7. Nearby Share

When Google announced Nearby Share for Android devices last year, the feature will be available on Chromebooks later. This feature lets you share apps, photos, and links to nearby Chromebooks and Android devices. 

8. Media Controls

Google has added several media controls to its quick settings to make it easier to control the playback of what you’re listening to.
